Why join Formby Ladies

Joining Formby Ladies means being able to play seven days a week, all year round, in a community which embraces women players of all ages and abilities. 

A well-drained links course means it is rarely closed due to the weather; and with a membership of around 350, there is excellent tee-time availability throughout the week, including weekends.

A busy calendar of competitions covers weekdays and weekends, catering for those who work or study full time. During the summer months, there are weekday evening competitions along with social events and fun golf.  

For competitive golfers, there is the opportunity to join a Scratch Team, two Handicap Teams, two Bronze Teams, and the 3rd Team. We also run a Seniors’ Team, which plays many of the local clubs, and the Millennium Links Team, who compete for the Millennium Links Trophy. This trophy is contested by Formby Ladies, Royal Birkdale, Royal Liverpool, Wallasey, Hillside, West Lancashire, Southport and Ainsdale, and Hesketh.

For ladies new to the club or new to golf, we have regular ‘turn up and play’ fixtures, which are a great way to get to know other members.

Competitive and social Bridge are played regularly and the Bridge section runs two teams who play against other local clubs.

We are proud to be an independent ladies’ club and we have an excellent relationship with our neighbours Formby Golf Club, sharing golf competitions and social events throughout the year.

How to join

The club is keen to welcome new ladies and junior girls from the age of 10 and our members and staff offer friendly support when joining. 

Several series of taster sessions are organised throughout the year, which offer group lessons with our professional Andrew Witherup, followed by refreshments with members in the clubhouse.
