Strictly Golf Charity Day
In 1977, Formby Ladies Golf Club staged a highly successful invitational tournament. The event was the brainchild of that year’s Captain, Daphne Johnson, a skilled golfer, past Lancashire Ladies County Captain and a passionate supporter of the amateur game.
The tournament brought together an impressive field of golfing talent and became a resounding success for many years.
Earlier this year, a group of members decided to reinstate the event, while giving it a format suited to the modern game.
The Strictly Golf Charity Day will be a fun and sociable day of golf, involving international amateur players, professionals, celebrities, players who have benefitted from our chosen charity and club golfers.
The proposed line up, subject to availability, includes a past European Tour and Senior Tour winner, a former Curtis Cup player and a 2026 Curtis Cup player. We also have a Women’s PGA Cup player, a wounded ex-serviceman who now plays professionally and won the G4D Race to Dubai, local professionals, County players, a snooker legend and an ex-Premiership footballer.
A team of three club golfers will play alongside a player invited by Formby Ladies Golf Club.
The competition will be played as a shotgun start, commencing at 10:00am on Sunday 11th October.
Our chosen charity is On Course Foundation UK, a charity doing valuable work to help wounded service personnel and veterans recover through the power of golf.
The entry fee is £300 per team and must be paid on entry.
Entries are limited to 12 teams of three. In the event of entries exceeding 12 teams, the Competition Committee will decide the acceptance basis, with a ballot for places.
Entrants will be notified of their place in the competition after the ballot. Unsuccessful entries will be refunded in full.
If entrants have to scratch after the closing date, no entry fee will be refundable unless replacements can be found.
The closing date for entries is 1st September 2026.
There will be a shotgun start commencing at 10:00am on Sunday 11th October.
Copies of the start sheet will be available on the Formby Ladies website after the closing date.
The Competition Committee reserves the right to refuse any entry without assigning a reason and to make alterations to the Conditions and Regulations without prior notification.
The decisions of the Competition Committee on all points shall be final.
